Change of law on Polish citizenship
Pursuant to the Act of 21 February 2019 amending certain acts in connection with ensuring the application of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46 / EC (General Data Protection Regulation), the Act on Polish Citizenship has been amended. The rights of the President of the Republic of Poland in cases of granting Polish citizenship and renunciation of Polish citizenship have been increased.
The president may apply to organs, organizations or institutions of his choice for information that may be of significant importance in the matter of granting Polish citizenship. Bodies, organizations or institutions are required to provide written information within 30 days of receipt of the inquiry. In particularly justified cases this period may be extended to 3 months, about which the body, organization or institution obliged to provide information notifies the President.
