   The Supreme Administrative Court recognized that citizenship taken on the basis of the Constitution can be restored (applies to the period from October 17, 1997, ie the entry into force of the provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland, until 1 January 1999, i.e. entry into force of the Act of 24 July 1998 on the amendment of certain acts defining the competences of public administration bodies - in connection with the systemic reform of the state, when a Polish citizen could lose Polish citizenship both on the basis of the provisions of the Act of 15 February 1962 on Polish citizenship and on the basis of Article 34 para. 2 and Article 137 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland of 1997. Only from 1 January 1999, i.e. the formal agreement between the Citizenship Act and the Basic Law, a Polish citizen could lose citizenship upon his request after obtaining the consent of the President of the Republic of Poland to renounce Polish citizenship )
