Emigration from Poland before 1920

map of Poland in the interwar period

The rules for acquiring Polish citizenship by people who emigrated from Poland before 1920 depended on the region in which these people had lived before leaving. These regions are marked on the map and coincide with the areas of the respective annexations (partitions): Austrian, Prussian and Russian. In addition, separate rules applied to the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Poland, separated from the area of the Russian partition.

  1. Prussian partition
  2. Russian Partition
  3. Austrian Partition
  4. Kingdom of Poland
